Today the absurdity continued. I was up early this morning to try and arrange a flight. Everyone from back home was stressing me out a lot which made me even more urgent to book a ticket.
I was making calls with the embassy and discussing back and forth with my parents and friends on how to handle the situation.
At first, my parents and I wanted to wait a little to see how the situation in Mexico would evolve and develop, but in the evening we decided to just book a flight immediately. We heard from contacts at KLM and the embassy that if I don’t leave now, it will probably take weeks to get me back. Additionally, I will probably not be able to start my internship because at that time things will have escalated in Mexico as well and I would most likely need to stay home.
My flight is now booked for tomorrow. I fly at 10am to Mexico City and at 23:25 to Amsterdam.
