Monday 25-05

We started today off by visiting the virtual walk-in hour organized by Jolijn and Nils. I really appreciate these hours because they are helpful when we run into problems or doubts.

Before the meeting started, we made a short list of questions regarding:

  • The mindmap. We followed the instructions from the alternative assignment guide but were not sure if we were on the right track.
  • Whether we have to mention every already existing idea that is similar to our solution
  • How we could apply a cost-benefit analysis to our own solution

Nils went through all the questions with us and Jolijn told us she was proud of how far we had already come and how proactive we were handling the assignment. Such acknowledgements are really nice to hear from time to time and I felt really motivated to keep going afterwards.

In the afternoon, we had a call with Bas Heerkens, who was our learning circle teacher at the beginning of the year. I remembered he has a psychology background and therefore invited him for a meeting. Although he did not have any actual personal experience with students coping with loneliness and talking about this directly with him, it was nice to talk about his know-how and understanding of the topic and he gave us some really good suggestions of approaches we could use for finding the ultimate solution.

Additionally, we finished talking to our target group of 20 people to check our most promising solutions.

I felt like today has been really productive and I’m excited for the rest of the week.
